How to Verify GST Number a Simple Process

Verify GST No.

The person, "who is required to be registered in GST Act" will be allotted a GSTIN No. It will be a 15 digit character code. Which is the combination of numbers and digits. Break up of GSTIN No. are as under.

1. First two digits are the state code in which the business is situated.

2. Next ten digits are Pan No. of the person (Company, Partnership Firm, and Individual)

3. Next one digit is a number of businesses and stores with the same Pan No. If any person has two businesses then this digit of 1st business will be 1 and the second one will be 2.

4. Next digit is Z it is default at present it may be changeable later on.

5. The last digit is check code 

Example of GSTIN No.

Suppose that registration is done in Uttar Pradesh

1. "09" is the state code

2. "BSLPK2947J" is Pan No.

3. "1"  is the business number above Pan. This Person has only one business in Uttar Pradesh.

4. "Z" is the default

5. "5" is the check code.

So GSTIN No. will be "09BSLPK2947J1Z5"

Some dealers are charging 18 percent of the bill from the customer as GST quoting fake GST No. But the fact is that they are not registered in GST. The 18 percent GST is not being paid to the government. They are cheating with the customer and government. So goods are getting costly unnecessary.

So I will teach you how to verify GST No. on GST Portal. So that anyone can not cheat you. In the first view, "The dealer and service provider who is charging the GST on his bill" check the GST No. on Bill.

If any person is not registered in GST so he can't charge GST on the bill. So you should not make the payment of that dealer as GST.

Step by step process to verify the GST No.

1. Open the website www.gst.gov.in

2.  Go to the Search Taxpayer tab and click the drop-down list and select the "Search by GSTIN / UN" option.

3. Put your GST No. and captcha code in the appropriate column filling the detail click search. 

4. After click all the details of the dealer will be provided by the portal. Name of Dealer, GST No., Date of Registration, and whether is active or not at present
